Personally I think these turbo problems are cause by the ridiculously long oil change intervals. The problem is mainly caused by the small oil capacity of this engine. The small oil capacity combined with long service intervals results in severe contamination and disintegration of the engine oil. That's definitely a 'Northern' quote. The 2.0 TDCI is a pretty easy belt to change, so you're not looking at 'wetbelt' kind of costs. Though I'd still expect more like £350-£400 myself.
